Pinan Yondan

Combination 1

Look over the left shoulder. Drop into left neko dachi, performing double block by blocking shuto uchi with the left hand (palm facing 12 o'clock), bringing the right hand up to the right temple, palm open, also facing 12 o'clock.

Combination 2

Look over the right shoulder. Turn into right neko dachi, performing the same double block as combination 1: left hand to left temple, right hand shuto uchi.

Combination 3

Look to the centre (12 o'clock). Pulling both hands back to the right hip, step forward into left zenkutsu dachi, blocking downward juji block (cross block).
Continue forward, stepping through on the right leg into right nekodachi, blocking morote uke (reinforced block) with the right hand. Bring the left leg up to the right leg, slowly pulling both hands back to the right hip, left hand on top, both fists closed.

Combination 4

Look to the left, strike with the left hand, jodan tetsu (bottom fist) to an opponent attacking from the left. Kick left leg mae geri, landing into left zenkutsu dachi. Grip behind the head with the left hand, pulling tori's head onto right empi.
Slowly, pull both hands back to the left hip, right hand on top, both fists closed, as the right leg draws up beside the left leg.

Combination 5

Look over the right shoulder, towards 3 o'clock. Strike jodan tetsu with the right hand. Kick right leg mae geri, landing into right zenkutsu dachi. Grip behind the head with the right hand, pulling tori's head onto left empi.

Combination 6

Turn both feet so that they are pointing towards 12 o'clock. Bring the left hand, open, up to the forehead. Right arm should arc upwards, striking with the open hand under the opponent's chin. Kick right leg mae geri, landing in right zenkutsu dachi. Slide the left leg up behind the right leg, into cross-legged stance, striking uraken uchi downward, on top of the bridge of the nose. Left hand is pulled back, closed fist, to the left hip.
Kiai on the uraken uchi.

Combination 7

Take the left leg out behind, to 5 o'clock. Looking over the left shoulder, turn into left neko dachi, blocking chudan uchi uke with the left arm. Kick chudan mae geri with the right leg, landing in right zenkutsu dachi. Finish the combination with a double chudan punch; first with the right hand oi zuki, then gyaku zuki with the left hand.

Combination 8

This combination is the same as combination 6, to the opposite direction. Look over the right shoulder, turn towards 7 o'clock. Taking the right leg around, turn into right neko dachi, blocking chudan uchi uke with the right arm. Kick chudan mae geri with the left leg, landing in left zenkutsu dachi. Finish the combination with a double chudan punch; first with the left hand oi zuki, then gyaku zuki with the right hand.

Combination 9

Take the left leg out slightly, towards 6 o'clock. From neko dachi, block morote uke (reinforced block) with the left hand. Step forward on the right leg into right neko dachi, blocking right morote uke. Finally, step forward on the left leg into left neko dachi, blocking left morote uke.
Lean all your weight onto the forward (left) leg. Reach quickly with both hands, as if grabbing the ears/just behind the head. Pulling the head downwards, strike up with the right knee, hiza geri. Slap the hands on the right thigh, emphasising the knee strike.
Kiai on the hiza geri.

Combination 10

Right leg is placed down in front, as the left leg is brought behind, towards 11 o'clock. Stepping into left neko dachi, block shuto uchi with the left hand.

Combination 11

Look over the right shoulder. Combination 11 is similar to combination 10; stepping out with the right leg into neko dachi and blocking shuto uchi uke with the right hand. However, as you step into neko dachi, the heel of the right foot is placed heel first, as if stamping on top of the opponents foot, rolling up on the toes into neko dachi.

End of Kata

Bring the right foot back alongside the left foot into heisoku dachi, bringing the hands back to yoi.
